2026 Locals Only Juried Art Show (City of San Ramon Residents ONLY)

Illumination is a juried exhibition open to San Ramon residents of all ages exploring the concept of light — both as a physical phenomenon and as a symbol of clarity, transformation, and revelation. Artists are invited to submit work that investigates how light defines space, reveals truth, or inspires insight. Whether through natural light, artificial glow, or metaphorical brilliance, this show celebrates work that interprets illumination in diverse, innovative ways. Accepted media include painting, photography, sculpture, digital art, mixed media, and ceramics. Both representational and abstract interpretations are welcome.

Artists can submit up to 3 entries. Entry fee is $15.00 per entry, with a student coupon code (StudentHi5) available for $5.00 off. Submissions must include images in JPEG format and an artist statement of 200 words or less describing each entry and its relation to the theme. Work must be original and created entirely by the entering artist; AI-generated work is not permitted. 2D work may not exceed 30" x 40" including frame and must be under 40 lbs. 3D work should not exceed 18" x 18" x 18" and be under 50 lbs. Work cannot contain nudity, violence, or inappropriate imagery, and pieces displayed in last year's juried exhibits are not eligible.

Categories include Kindergarten-2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade, 6th-8th Grade, 9th-12th Grade, 18 years and older, and 55 years and older. Awards include Best in Show ($150 gift certificate) and per-category ribbons: Blue Ribbon ($75), Red Ribbon ($50), and White Ribbon ($25). The exhibition will be held at Dougherty Station Community Arts Center, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Rd., San Ramon, with display dates May 8-27. Artwork drop-off is April 23-24 (9am-8pm), public artists' reception is May 8 (6pm-8pm), and pickup is May 28-29 (9am-8pm). Selection notifications will be sent via email on April 3.
