About This Call
The Left Coast Annual is an open call for contemporary art held yearly at Sanchez Art Center. The juried exhibition is open to artists 18 years and older in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, working in all fine art visual mediums. There is no theme, with the juror establishing the vision for the exhibition. The exhibition runs April 10 - May 10, 2026, with a reception on Friday, April 10, 7-9 pm. Works will be displayed in the Main and West Galleries at Sanchez Art Center, and an online virtual exhibition will also be created.
The 2026 juror is Scott A. Shields, Ph.D., Ted and Melza Barr Chief Curator and Associate Director at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. Having joined the Crocker in 2000, he has curated more than eighty exhibitions and authored numerous exhibition catalogues on California and West Coast artists.
Awards include 2 Exhibition Awards ($250 plus an exhibition in 2027) and 2 Merit Awards ($250). Artists may submit up to 20 entries, including jpegs and up to 6 videos. The entry fee is $15 per image or video submitted. Sales are encouraged with a 30% commission retained by Sanchez Art Center. Work must fit through a standard-sized door (80" x 35") and weigh less than 50 lbs. Framed 2D work must be wired with no sawtooth hangers.
