About This Call

The 11th Annual Great Wall of Honesdale is a public art project of Wayne County Arts Alliance located at the intersection of 4th Street and Main Street in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The exhibit will be displayed from June 2026 to June 2027. More than five million cars drive past the Great Wall of Honesdale each year, making it a high-visibility opportunity for artists from around the world to showcase their work.

The Great Wall of Honesdale is a physical display of twelve large-scale vinyl reproductions of horizontal artwork. Each selected artist's work is printed on an individual 11 x 17 foot vinyl panel. Chosen artwork is also displayed virtually as a permanent feature on the Great Wall of Honesdale website, which includes links to artist websites and social media accounts. There is no charge to selected entrants for reproduction, hanging, or supplies related to the exhibit. Upon completion of the exhibit, artists may keep their own panel free of charge (shipping costs apply, or local pickup can be arranged). Unclaimed panels become the sole property of Wayne County Arts Alliance.

The 2026 theme is "American Perspective." Artists are asked to combine both the technique and concept of perspective with the celebration of America250, marking the birth of the American Nation at 250 years. Submissions may include works created using perspective as an artistic technique, works demonstrating a historic perspective of the nation, works depicting something current unique to the nation, or works expressing an attitude or feeling about the future of the nation. All interpretations are encouraged. Submissions must be horizontal (wider than high). Jurying is based on artistic quality, interpretation of the theme, and graphic strength. All submissions must allow for minimal cropping only as needed during the reproduction process.

Entrants may submit up to three JPEG images for consideration. Images must be at least 1,200 pixels on the longest side and up to 5MB per file. Selected entrants will be required to submit a high-resolution TIFF image for printing (minimum 300 dpi and 5,000 pixels on longest side) within two weeks from notification. The entry fee is $35 for up to three entries. A fourth photo may be submitted for 3D work only. One of the twelve panels annually is reserved for a primary education student entrant. Entrants previously selected for the Great Wall of Honesdale in 2023, 2024, or 2025 are not eligible for 2026. Selected artists will be notified by end of day (EST) on Monday, April 20, 2026. The call opens February 1, 2026, with a deadline of midnight (MT) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
