About This Call
The City of Westminster is seeking the loan of two artworks for display during the 2026 calendar year in conjunction with the One Book Community Read event. One sculpture will be installed outdoors at the Irving Street Library and one artwork or small sculpture will be installed indoors at the College Hill Library. Artists should submit works related to themes in the book "Burn" by Peter Heller, which examines friendship, loyalty, courage, uncertainty, and social tension with wilderness as a backdrop.
For the Irving Street Library outdoor site, artwork must be designed for long-term outdoor durability including strong winds. Acceptable materials include metal, stone, or similarly durable materials; wood will not be accepted. Maximum dimensions are 12' high by 3' wide by 3' deep. For the College Hill Library indoor site, all non-ephemeral materials are acceptable with maximum dimensions of 3' high by 3' wide for sculptures and floor-based works. Wall-hung artworks will be reviewed case by case.
All artworks must be available for purchase and have a maximum value of $75,000. Selected artists will receive a $500 honorarium after acceptance and installation. Applications require 3-6 images showing front and back viewpoints, artist bio, artwork description including dimensions and condition, appraisal certificate, and inspiration description. The jury will evaluate submissions based on relation to themes in "Burn" and overall aesthetic quality. Applications close January 5, 2026, with notifications on January 12, 2026, and installations completed by late January.
