2026 Artspace Open Call for Proposals

Artspace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit gallery located at 2833-A Hathaway Rd., Richmond, VA 23225 in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center, invites proposals for exhibitions of art in all genres for the 2026 calendar year season. Proposals may be made for individual, group, or joint shows. Full-time students are not eligible to apply for individual or joint shows.

Submission deadline is Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. A $35 non-refundable proposal fee is required. Proposals will not be reviewed before finalized payment is received unless the fee presents a hardship; contact [email protected] to request a fee exemption. Work samples must include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 total samples (images, audio, or video combined). Work exhibited should have been completed within the last 5 years of the exhibition date unless the proposal is for a retrospective. For video entries, artists must provide display equipment if work is selected. All artwork must be able to fit through the gallery door (33 inches width by 82 3/4 inches height with a diagonal of 88 inches; gallery wall height is 96 inches).

Applications must include an art resume or CV, a description of the proposed exhibition, preferred exhibition dates (available dates: 3/27–4/18, 4/24–5/16, 7/24–8/22, 8/28–9/19), and information about any programming or workshops. The Exhibition Committee will notify selected exhibitors no later than November 16, 2025, with an announcement of completed selections by the end of December 2025. Selections will be made based on artistic merit, track record, quality of work samples, alignment with Artspace's mission, and contribution to contemporary art awareness in the Greater Richmond area.
