2026 Art For State Buildings

The South Dakota Arts Council invites artists to submit work for the Art For State Buildings program. Artwork selected will be purchased for display in publicly accessible areas in state government buildings in and near the State Capitol Building in Pierre, SD. Each selected piece becomes part of the state's permanent collection. The collection currently contains 135 pieces on display in the State Capitol Building and nearby state-owned buildings, enjoyed by visitors, state employees, and citizens of South Dakota.

This program invests in South Dakota artists whose work reflects the people, land, history, and spirit of the state. The program was established in 2008 and is supported by the South Dakota Arts Council and Travel South Dakota. Submission deadline: March 1, 2026.
