About This Call
The Arts Council Wichita Falls opens the 22nd annual Sculpture Garden exhibit at the Kemp Center for the Arts on May 9, 2026. The exhibition will run for 12 months, with sculptures on display from May 2026 through May 2027. Ten pieces will be accepted for the exhibition. The exhibit space surrounds a public building with areas in open sunlight and shaded by large trees, with an irrigation system in place. Artwork will be placed on steel plates on soft ground with no concrete installation areas available.
Eligibility is national. Sculptures should be garden-sized or larger (at least 3 feet in any one dimension is recommended) and made from durable materials including metal, stone, ceramic, or other materials that can withstand outdoor elements and irrigation system contact. Pieces must be able to attach to ¼" steel plate for installation or safely rest on bare ground. Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of all artwork at their own expense. Artwork does not need to be for sale, but if listed for sale, the Arts Council will receive a 30% commission and collect sales tax.
Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration. Work samples should include 1-3 images and 0-3 videos (6 total samples maximum). The entry fee is $25. Selected artists will receive an exhibition stipend totaling $1,500 ($750 upon completed installation and $750 upon completed deinstallation). Three cash awards will be announced at the opening reception: First ($2,500), Second ($1,500), and Third ($500), distributed within 30 days of judging. Artists are expected to attend the opening reception on May 9, 2026, with one hotel room provided for up to two nights. Artists must confirm their pickup date and time with the installer no less than 30 days prior to removal. Contact: [email protected] or 940-767-2787 ext. 202.
