2025 Signal Box Beautification Program

The Lone Tree Arts Commission seeks original designs from area artists to beautify traffic signal and utility boxes placed throughout the city. Selected designs will be printed on vinyl wrap and cover the boxes on all four sides, installed by a third-party design fabricator.

Artists are encouraged to explore original avenues and avoid common iconography already used in Lone Tree. Bright and vibrant colors are highly encouraged. Designs should add to the vibrancy of the cityscape and create a sense of community and connection. Submitted designs must be original works in compliance with copyright laws. Artwork may not contain advertising, religious content, sexual or violent imagery, or other content unsuitable for all ages, and cannot convey political partisanship.

Each artist or team may submit up to three completed works. All submissions will be reviewed by the Lone Tree Arts Commission for compliance with requirements, creativity, and overall quality. The Arts Commission will select 2 designs and present recommendations to council. Work must be finalized artwork (not conceptual) and able to be translated into a digital file in PDF vector format at 300 dpi. Designs must engage all four sides of the box; the top does not need a design. $500 will be awarded to each selected artist or group. Eligibility is limited to Colorado residents. Community or student groups may apply with no age restrictions. Applicants cannot be members of the Lone Tree Arts Commission or employees of the City of Lone Tree. Deadline: October 7, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notifications will be sent in late November/early December, with installation in early 2026.
