About This Call
The Postmark Gift Shop seeks to support local Washington State artists and create a retail destination offering unique handcrafted items for Auburn residents and visitors. Artist applications are reviewed twice annually.
Eligibility is limited to Washington State artists, with preference given to those residing in Auburn and surrounding areas. Applicants must submit an online application with 2-5 images of proposed gift shop items (including description of item, media, and proposed retail price), and a brief two or three sentence artist biography and statement. Selection criteria include artistic excellence as demonstrated in work samples, innovative use of materials and variety from existing inventory, and accessible pricing for Auburn residents and Postmark visitors.
All inventory is sold on a consignment basis with income split 70% to the artist and 30% to the City of Auburn according to a consignment sales agreement. The initial consignment term is 90 days, after which the agreement may continue on a month-to-month basis upon mutual agreement. The City's commission covers staff time, inventory management systems, and associated promotions and programming.
