2025 National Photography Competition

This national photography competition is open to all photographers 18 years old or older who are residents of the United States, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. All photo-based works are eligible with no limitation as to subject matter or technique, except A.I. generated work will not be accepted. Juror Jean Dykstra, a writer, editor, and art critic who frequently writes about photography and is the former editor of Photograph magazine, will choose approximately 60 photographs for the exhibition.

Entry fee is $55.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the first 5 (up to 12 total images may be submitted). Submissions must include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 12 images. Winning photographs must be suitably prepared for gallery presentation with a maximum height or width (including frame) not exceeding 48 inches. All accepted works must be wired or otherwise ready for hanging, with printing, mounting, and framing meeting gallery quality standards.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first place ($400) and second place ($200). Third place and up to 4 Honorable Mentions will receive gifts from sponsor Archival Methods. Photographers chosen and award winners will be notified by email on or about June 6, 2025. The exhibition runs July 2–20, 2025, with an opening reception on July 10, 2025. Accepted work is due at the gallery by June 28, 2025, and may be picked up on Monday, July 21, 2025. Copyright is retained by the photographer. Soho Photo Gallery reserves the right to publish winning photographs on its website and social media. If previously accepted into a National Competition, artists must submit a different photograph; no previous winning photos are allowed.
