About This Call

2025 Midsummer Art Celebration is a juried exhibition celebrating Hawaiʻi-based artists in all media. Open to all Hawaiʻi State residents working in 2D, 3D, video, and other mediums and styles. The exhibition will be held July 5-24, 2025 at Wailoa Center in Hilo.

Submission deadline is June 6, 2025 at 5:00 PM HST. Entry fee is $20 per submission (non-refundable), with a maximum of five entries per artist. First entry is free for full-time Hawaiʻi Island students (grade school through college) using code 'HIStudent'. Work samples must include 1-5 images (maximum 5 MB file size; high quality images recommended at 1200 pixels longest edge, sRGB, jpeg). A bio and artist statement (200 word limit) are highly recommended. Artists will be notified of acceptance by June 9, 2025. The exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday, July 5, 5:00-7:00 PM. Artwork drop-off is Sunday, June 29, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at Wailoa Center, with alternative Kona pick-up available June 27 at 10:00 AM. Off-island work must be received by June 27. Artwork pick-up is Friday, July 25, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at Wailoa Center, with off-island artworks shipped by August 4.

Eligibility: Artwork must have been created in the past four years and cannot have been previously exhibited at Wailoa Center. No reproductions or AI-generated or AI-assisted art accepted. 2D works must not exceed 7' tall x 9' wide; 3D works must not exceed 10' tall or 6' wide. Artwork with sensitive subject matter (nudity, offensive religious or political statements, violence) may be juried out due to the State Parks facility. All accepted work must be gallery quality and installation ready. For off-island artists, shipping costs are the artist's responsibility; packages must include prepaid return labels and a $10 handling fee per artwork will be collected upon acceptance. Accepted shippers: USPS and FedEx only. For any work sold, 75% of sales goes to the artist and 25% goes to Hawaiʻi Island Art Alliance. Juror: Donnie Cervantes. Monetary prizes will be awarded.
