About This Call

East Carolina University School of Art and Design invites all currently enrolled undergraduate students to submit work for the 2025 Juried Undergraduate Exhibition. The juror is Dare Coulter, an internationally award-winning sculptor, muralist, and illustrator who focuses on depictions of black families and people. She recently won the Coretta Scott King Book award for her illustrations in Kwame Alexander's "An American Story."

Work must have been completed between August 2024 and September 2025. There is no entry fee. Each student may submit up to 4 individual works, or participate as a collaborator on up to 5 additional works. All media are eligible. Work cannot be hung from the ceiling and has a maximum size of 4 ft. x 4 ft. Accepted artwork must be ready to install. Unframed work may be hung with binder clips; framed work must be wired (no sawtooth hangers). Digital media must be delivered via flash drive or cloud storage link. Installation must be completed by the artist. Artists may choose to sell their work; the Gallery will connect buyers directly to artists with no fee or financial intermediary involvement.

Deadline for entries is September 16 at midnight MT. Jurying takes place September 17–18, with notification of acceptance on September 19. Artwork drop-off is September 30, and the exhibition runs October 4–31. Artwork pick-up is November 3. Awards include Best in Show ($500), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), 10 Merit Awards ($100 each), 2 Friends of the School of Art and Design Awards ($150 each), and the Nell Cole Graves Award for Ceramics ($50). For collaborative works, prize money will be distributed evenly among participants. Award funds will be disbursed through student financial accounts. For questions, contact [email protected].
