2025 International Alternative Processes

The 2025 International Alternative Processes competition is open to all photographers age 18 or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. The juror is Jill Endfield, a fine art photographer and author specializing in historical techniques and alternative processes. She has published three books on these subjects and her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and private collections. Her recent series include immigration portraits and landscapes along the Hudson River, both photographed using wet plate collodion process and printed with Palladium.

Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Anthotypes, Photogravure, and Chemigrams, as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives. Images must originate using alternative processes and cannot be AI-generated. There is no limitation as to subject matter. No image can measure more than 40 inches on the longest side.

Entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond 5. Submissions must include a minimum of 5 images and a maximum of 15 images, plus up to 1 video. Awards include 1st Place: $300, 2nd Place: $200, 3rd Place: $100, and 4 Honorable Mentions. Digital entries must be uploaded at callforentry.org. Entry deadline is September 26, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
