2025 Fine Arts Exhibition: Cat & Mouse | Decatur Arts Festival

The Decatur Arts Alliance invites artists working in all media to submit work exploring the meaning of "Cat and Mouse" in all its aspects: historical, political, and moral. The 36th Annual Decatur Fine Arts Exhibition will be held May 2 – June 13, 2025, at the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library in Decatur, Georgia.

The exhibition theme draws inspiration from Queen Mary of Scotland's embroidered cat with hidden meanings created during her imprisonment by Elizabeth I. Artists are encouraged to explore hidden meanings, games, and feints in their work. The Decatur Arts Festival draws approximately 40,000 people to downtown Decatur for a celebration of the arts. The Fine Arts Exhibition addresses a broad spectrum of knowledge and appreciation of the arts with a diversity of styles and media.

Entry fee is $30 for up to three submissions. Work samples may include 1-3 images and up to 1 video (4 total samples maximum). Jury decisions will be announced by April 4, 2025. Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Gold Award ($700), and Silver Award ($500). Purchase awards totaling $2,500 are selected by the City of Decatur for inclusion in its public art collection. A closing reception is planned for Friday, June 13, 2025 from 6-9pm. Sales are encouraged with the Decatur Arts Alliance collecting a 25% commission on all artwork sold. All entries must be submitted digitally through www.callforentry.org by 11:59 PM MST on March 14, 2025.
