About This Call
The Town of Taos and Taos Arts Council are seeking images of Taos County artists' work for a lamp post banner campaign to highlight Taos as an arts destination, celebrate the community's diversity and creativity, and beautify the Historic District. Banners will be displayed from approximately late fall through early spring.
Eligibility: Entrants must be artists at least 18 years of age, currently living and working in Taos County. Work must have been produced within the last 5 years and cannot be a duplicate of a winning entry from a prior "Taos is Art" banner competition. Each individual artist or their representative may enter one piece with one image; groups may enter one collectively created piece under one collective name. The competition welcomes diverse artistic disciplines and media that can be photographed and displayed visually on a banner, including painting, pottery, sculpture, printmaking, photography, projection and installation, glass, jewelry, metalwork, fiber art, performing arts such as dance, theatre, music, and other non-traditional media.
Entry Requirements: The $35 application fee includes a $33 fee to offset banner project expenses and a $2 addition to fund replacement banners. Applicants must submit one lower-resolution JPG image (under 5mb) through the CaFE website. Selected applicants will need to submit a second high-resolution image (PSD, TIFF, JPG, or PNG format, at least 200 dpi) to the Taos Arts Council or graphic layout artist for printing. Images should be bold, bright, legible, with good sharpness and contrast; avoid busy images or those not well viewed from a distance. Selected artists will be featured on one of 41 large (30" x 60") or 25 small (18" x 30") lamppost banners displayed around the Town of Taos. Winners will receive their banner after deinstallation and be available for pickup at a location and dates to be determined. Selection will be made through a blind jury process within approximately 3-5 days after the September 15, 2025 deadline, with winners notified within approximately 1-3 days.
