About This Call

The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) invites two artists to participate in a four-week fall residency, transforming the gallery into a shared open studio. This residency supports ongoing or evolving projects in photography, video, installation, or interdisciplinary practices. Each selected artist will create at least one new piece that engages with the PRC's legacy—drawing on past exhibitions, printed materials, or archival ephemera as a point of reflection, contrast, or inspiration. This engagement might take the form of a reimagined work, a text-based response, an archival intervention, or a contextual nod in wall text or programming.

Each selected artist receives a $500 stipend, exclusive use of approximately 400 square feet of gallery space for studio and exhibition preparation (October 13 – November 9), individual exhibition-planning sessions and weekly feedback meetings with the PRC Director of Exhibitions and Programs, access to the PRC photobook library and online archives, the opportunity to lead one public program, two group critique sessions with the Executive Director and select board members, and professional documentation of the final exhibition. The residency culminates in a dual exhibition (November 14 – 23) with a shared opening reception and artist talks.

Applicants must submit 3–6 images from either an in-progress body of work or a new idea they would like to develop during the residency, along with an artist statement (250 words max), a residency proposal (500 words max), and a CV (2 pages max). The non-refundable entry fee is $25. Application fee waivers are available for those facing financial or access-related barriers. Applicants must be current members of the Photographic Resource Center through December 2025. This is a non-live-in residency; artists arrange their own housing and transportation but are expected to make regular use of the gallery space throughout the residency. Selected and non-selected artists will be notified via email between September 9–13. The PRC requests 30% commission from any work sold during the exhibition.
