About This Call
The City of Westminster is seeking the loan of two artworks for its 2025 One Book Community Celebration - Art on Loan Program: one sculpture for outdoor installation at Irving Street Library and one artwork or small sculpture for indoor installation at College Hill Library. Both artworks will be on display during the 2025 calendar year.
Submissions are open to Colorado artists for works related to the One Book Westminster 2025 program celebrating "Go As a River" by Colorado author Shelly Read. The exhibit aims to showcase art depicting outdoor scenes or activities related to Colorado, especially those related to water. For the Irving Street Library outdoor site, artwork must be designed for long-term durability and ease of maintenance, with acceptable materials including metal, stone, or similarly durable materials (wood and powder coated surfaces not accepted). Maximum dimensions are 12' height by 3' by 3' width, and artwork must be able to be welded or bolted to a metal display base, concrete pad, or sidewalk. For the College Hill Library indoor site, all non-ephemeral materials are acceptable. Sculptures and floor-based artworks have a maximum size of 3' high by 3' wide; wall-hung artworks will be reviewed case by case. Artists are responsible for providing secure bonnets and pedestals if needed.
Applications must be submitted online through CaFE with 3-6 images of a single artwork, showing minimum front and back viewpoints. There is no entry fee. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend after acceptance and installation. All artworks must be available for purchase. If artwork is removed during the display year, a replacement piece of equal or greater value must be installed within 7 days. Selected works will be promoted regionally through print and digital platforms and through events throughout Westminster. Notification of selection is December 16, 2024, with installation deadline of January 31, 2025. Deinstallation occurs December 2-6, 2025.
