About This Call
The City of Mountain View's Visual Arts Committee invites artists and artist teams working in a variety of media to exhibit art in the lobby of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (500 Castro Street, Mountain View, California, 94041) for the 2025-26 season. The rotating exhibits are approximately six to eight weeks in length and are viewed by thousands of people visiting downtown Mountain View and attending shows at the Center. Exhibit hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and one hour prior to every public performance.
Eligibility: Artists and artist teams must be over 18 years old and reside in one of eleven San Francisco Bay Area Counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma). Preference will be given to artists who have not previously displayed, or who have not displayed in the last three years, unless proposing a new body of work. Artists under 18 may apply with an adult sponsor. Selected artists will receive a $250 stipend after the exhibit.
Applications must be submitted online via CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org by January 12, 2025, at 10:59 PM (PST). Applications must include a current resumé (no more than two pages) and five to ten images with annotations (title, date, dimensions, media type) of work to be displayed. All artwork must be framed, properly wired, and ready for installation. Maximum dimensions per piece: 60" width, 84" height, 6" depth. Typical weight limit is 20 pounds per piece. The Visual Arts Committee will score applications and anticipates making selections at their February 2025 meeting. Selected artists will be notified and required to obtain a Business License with the City and provide a Form W-9 before entering into an agreement.
