About This Call

The 2025 Art on Loan Program, administered by the South Suburban Public Art Committee (SSPAC), is accepting proposals for sculptural artwork to be exhibited for one year at two locations: Goodson Recreation Center (Centennial) and The Hudson Gardens & Events Center (Littleton). The program is designed to promote public interest in art, develop community pride, and enhance the visitor experience.

Eligibility: Open to all artists who have at any time resided in Colorado for a one-year period and have the background, experience, and skill to create quality sculpture appropriate for year-long outdoor exhibition. Only sculptural works will be considered. Artists may submit up to 5 different pieces, one per application, with an entry fee of $10 per application. Each application should include 1-3 images of the same work.

At Goodson Recreation Center (visited by over 400,000 people annually), up to three sculptures will be displayed on existing concrete pads (36" diameter, 18" height) near the main entrance. Sculptures must fit on these pads and cannot exceed 4,000 pounds. At Hudson Gardens (approximately 130,000 annual visitors), up to two sculptures will be displayed on constructed pedestals with no size restriction but a 4,000-pound weight limit. Proposed sculptures must be original works, durable, safe for public interaction, relatively maintenance-free, and appropriate for outdoor public display. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 Exhibitor's Honorarium after installation in June 2025. Sculptures will be loaned for a one-year exhibition period. If artwork is sold during the exhibition, it must remain on display for the full year, and the artist must pay a 20% commission to SSPRD. The artist is responsible for transporting the artwork to the installation site and providing an appropriate pedestal if required. SSPRD will assist with offloading, equipment operation for installation and de-installation, and will supply an identifying plaque. Submission deadline: Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jury dates: March 25-28, 2025. Finalists will be notified April 11, 2025. Installation is scheduled for June 13, 2025, with de-installation tentatively set for June 2026.
