About This Call

The 2025 Art on Loan Program is administered by the La Veta Creative District. The program is a year-long outdoor exhibit designed to enhance community spaces by integrating captivating sculptures that reflect the town's unique cultural and historical heritage, as well as to engage residents and visitors through interactive and thought-provoking art. Sculptures will be installed in key locations in the Town of La Veta, Colorado, fostering community pride and promoting cultural tourism. The program offers artists a chance to showcase and sell their artwork.

The 2025 Art on Loan exhibit features a Nature-Related Open Theme. Each application represents one artwork and should include three different images of the same work, with up to 5 images allowed. Artists can submit up to 5 different pieces of art for consideration, one per application. The project is open to all artists residing in Colorado who have the background, experience, and reputation for completing such a project. Sculptures must be a maximum of 6 feet tall, must be able to be welded to provided concrete pads with red rock slab tops, and cannot exceed 2,500 pounds in overall weight. Sculptures will be installed outside and exposed to the elements, including harsh sun, high winds, wide temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Sculptures should be safe for interaction with the public, especially children.

A $750 Exhibitor's Honorarium is provided to each artist after the artwork is installed. To receive the honorarium, artists must provide the La Veta Creative District with a signed Art on Loan Agreement, a current completed W9 form, and proof of insurance. The artist is responsible for transporting the artwork to and from La Veta on a date and time agreed upon by the La Veta Creative District, and must be on-site during installation and de-installation. If necessary, the artist will make modifications to the artwork so that it can be welded to the pedestal supplied by the LVCD. Artists are responsible for all sales transactions, payment of applicable taxes, and payment of a 20% commission to the LVCD should the artwork be sold as a result of this exhibit. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work. Exhibition areas include the area east of the Francisco Center for the Performing Arts (127 W Francisco Street), Ryus Avenue Garden area (southeast corner of East Ryus Avenue and Main Street), and La Veta Town Park (West Ryus Avenue).
