2025 Art Infusion

The Lakeland Community Redevelopment Agency (LCRA) is seeking proposals from professional mural artists and artist teams to participate in the Art Infusion Program, a creative initiative designed to revitalize key areas in Lakeland, specifically the Downtown, Midtown, and Dixieland Districts through the installation of murals on commercial properties. The program launched in 2019 to leverage cultural tourism to drive economic development while beautifying the area and engaging the local art community.

Applicants must demonstrate artistic excellence, originality, and strong technical skills through a portfolio showcasing a minimum of five completed exterior murals with documentation including images with locations, dimensions, total project costs, and dates completed. Preference will be given to artists with proven experience engaging community stakeholders and collaborating with building owners or public agencies, and to those based in Lakeland, Polk County, or the surrounding area. All Florida-based mural artists are encouraged to apply. Out-of-state artists may apply but must include a narrative describing their interest in traveling to Lakeland; the program does not include reimbursement for travel, lodging, meals, or other expenses.

Submit a Letter of Interest (1 page max), Artist Resume or Team Bios, portfolio of at least 5 completed mural projects, and three references for recent mural projects by August 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will receive a conceptual design fee of $250 for at least one concept and mockup (up to $500 for two rounds of revisions), and a commissioned rate of $10 per square foot for mural installation. The CRA will cover paint, supplies, equipment rental, wall preparation, and sealing, or provide up to $5 per square foot reimbursement if the artist manages these costs. Total CRA contribution will not exceed $25,000 per mural. Jury dates: September 1-8, 2025.
