About This Call
Art in the Heart of Farmington promotes sculpture as a public art form that enhances Historic Downtown Farmington and showcases artists from New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah. Up to 15 sculptures will be selected by juror Don Ellis to be displayed for one year and must be available for sale. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium after installation. All selected artists from out of town will receive lodging for two nights on May 8th, 9th, or 10th, 2025, depending on their installation date. A reception for selected artists will be held on Friday, May 9th.
Artwork will be evaluated based on artistic excellence, timelessness, permanence, compatibility with the downtown area, and public safety. Sculptures must be original creations with structural and surface soundness, resistant to theft, vandalism, and weathering, and require minimal maintenance for outdoor display.
Eligible artists are from the Four Corners region: New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. Each application requires 3-5 images and may include one optional video of the same piece. Applications must include an artist statement, resume or CV, and sculpture information (title, materials, dimensions, weight, installation requirements, value, and sales price). Each artist may submit up to three applications at $25.00 per application. Artists will be notified of selection status the third week of February 2025.
