2025 Aqueous Open International Exhibit

The Pittsburgh Watercolor Society invites artists 18 and older to submit work for the 2025 Aqueous Open International Exhibit, held at the Latrobe Art Center from October 4-31, 2025. This international exhibition is open to artists working primarily with water-based media on paper surfaces, including watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempera. Work must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously exhibited in a PWS show. Minimum image size is 12" x 12"; maximum framed size is 40" x 40". No canvas, pastels, digital images, prints, or reproductions are accepted. Collage is limited to 10% of the work.

Artists may submit up to two pieces for consideration, but only one will be accepted. The entry fee is $45. Digital image files must be professional quality JPG format, at least 1920 pixels on the long side, 300 dpi resolution, and 3.5 MB or less. Accepted work must be framed and ready for hanging with wire (no sawtooth hangers). Matting must be white, off-white, or light gray; frames should be simple in black, gray, silver, or gold, no wider than 1.5 inches. All work must be for sale at current market value and not concurrently exhibited elsewhere. Artists receive 60% of sale price (after sales tax), the Latrobe Art Center receives 30%, and Pittsburgh Watercolor Society receives 10%.

Work may be hand-delivered September 27 (11am-2pm) or September 29 (11am-4pm), or shipped to The Latrobe Art Center, 819 Ligonier Street, Latrobe, PA 15650 (must arrive by September 27). Shipped work must use acrylic or plexiglas only; no glass. The jury will select work September 1-8, with awards announced at the opening reception October 4. The Best of Show award is $1,000, with over $5,000 in total cash and prize awards. Unsold work may be picked up November 1 (11am-2pm) or November 3 (11am-4pm).
