2025 15th Annual Abstract Only!

The 15th Annual Abstract Only exhibition is open to Hawaiʻi residents and kama'āina. Abstract art only—artwork must be non-representational with no recognizable figures or objects. All media are welcomed in 2D, 3D, and digital formats. The juror is Glenn Yamanoha. New this year, Abstract Only will participate in an exchange with the Shanghai Artists Association. Along with juried Hawaiʻi artworks, the exhibit will feature selected artists from the Shanghai Abstract Artists Association. Accepted Hawaiʻi artists and artworks will have the option to be selected to show their works in Shanghai in December 2025.

Entry fee is $20 per submission with a maximum of five entries per artist. Hawaii Island students receive a free first entry using code 'HIStudent'. Artwork must have been created in the past four years and cannot have been previously exhibited at Wailoa Center. 2D works must not exceed 7' tall x 9' wide; 3D works must not exceed 10' tall or 6' wide. No reproductions or AI-generated or assisted art will be accepted. Artwork with sensitive subject matter (nudity, offensive religious or political statements, violence) may be juried out. All accepted work must be gallery quality and installation ready.

Submission deadline is July 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM HST. Artists will be notified by July 5, 2025. Accepted artwork drop-off is July 25-26, 2025 at Wailoa Center in Hilo or Kona Frame Shop parking lot. Off-island work must be received by July 25, 2025. The exhibition runs August 1-28, 2025 at Wailoa Center with an opening reception on August 1 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Artwork pick-up is August 29, 2025.
