2024 The Great Wall of Honesdale: Journey

The 9th Annual Great Wall of Honesdale is a public art exhibition in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, running from June 2024 to June 2025. Sponsored by the Wayne County Arts Alliance, this high-visibility opportunity showcases artwork on twelve large-scale vinyl panels displayed at the intersection of 4th Street and Main Street in Honesdale. Over five million cars drive past the Great Wall each year. Selected artwork is printed on individual 11 x 17 foot vinyl panels and also displayed permanently on the Great Wall of Honesdale's website with links to artist websites and social media accounts.

The 2024 theme is JOURNEY. All interpretations are encouraged, including modes or processes of travel, future destinations, departing or arriving, obstacles encountered, and intellectual or spiritual paths. Entrants may submit up to three JPEG images (minimum 1,200 pixels on longest side, up to 5MB each). All submissions must be horizontal (wider than high) and able to accommodate minimal cropping. Selections are based on artistic quality, graphic strength, and interpretation of the theme. Selected artists will not pay for art reproduction, display, or online promotion. One of the twelve panels is reserved annually for a student entrant. The entry fee is $30 for up to 3 entries. Upon completion of the exhibit, artists may purchase their own panel for $100. Entrants previously selected in 2021, 2022, or 2023 are not eligible. Selected entrants will be notified by April 29, 2024, and must submit a high-resolution TIFF image (minimum 300 dpi and 5000 pixels on longest side) within two weeks of notification.
