About This Call
One artist will be awarded a $10,000 grant presented in conjunction with a virtual exhibit of their work. MOFSA seeks to facilitate the work of artists who have an existing body of spiritual art and have potential for further growth. The 2024 exhibit will be a virtual presentation featuring the grant recipient's work, including a new work not previously shown elsewhere. Selected other artists who submit for the grant will share equally in $2,000 of additional awards. All artwork shown must be original.
Applicants must submit digital images of 5 pieces of work, an artist statement essay, and a bio with website link(s). The artist statement should address: what has drawn you to pursue the spiritual in art; how you see the role of art in spiritual and social transformation; where you see your art heading over the next few years; and your thoughts for the new work you want to create for the exhibit. All images must be faithful to the original work, with excessive digital alterations unacceptable. Entry fee is $40 (nonrefundable, paid through CaFE by credit card or PayPal). Up to 2 applications per artist are allowed.
Eligible media includes 2D and 3D work such as oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, drawings, mixed media, fiber, and sculpture, but not photography or digital art. Open to all artists over 18 residing in the United States. The jury is comprised of artists who previously received spiritual art grants from MOFSA. Selection notice will be sent May 31, 2024, with the exhibit opening December 1, 2024.
