2024 Peggy Doole National Small Works Exhibition

The 26th annual Peggy Doole National Small Works Exhibition will be held August 1-25, 2024 at Washington Printmakers Gallery in Washington, DC. This is a juried national exhibition of contemporary printmaking that includes hand-pulled prints, screen prints, digital prints, photographs, and three-dimensional work with print components.

Artists must submit 1-3 images along with a resume/CV, brief biography (no more than 1000 characters), and artist statement. The entry fee is $35 for three submissions. Work must be original, editioned, and archivally printed and framed. For two-dimensional work, images may be no larger than 120 square inches with framed size no larger than 250 square inches. Three-dimensional work may be no more than 250 cubic inches. All work must be visibly signed by the artist and include edition numbers and certificate of authenticity for hand-pulled prints and photographs. Works must be priced for sale or marked POR (price on request). The gallery will retain a 40% commission on all sales. Only one artwork from each applicant will be selected for exhibit.

Prizes include a Grand Prize of a solo exhibition in 2024 at Washington Printmakers Gallery in Georgetown, Second Prize of $500, and other prizes to be determined. The juror is Ann Shafer, an independent curator and art historian specializing in intaglio printmaking. The exhibition honors Peggy Doole (1934-2021), a longtime resident of the metro D.C. area who was passionate about art history and printmaking. Eligibility is open to artists 18 years or older residing in the United States, except current members of Washington Printmakers Gallery. A maximum of 3 original works created within the past 2 years may be entered. The opening reception and awards ceremony will be held August 10 from 2-5 p.m.
