2024 Paint New Mexico!

This is a juried plein air event open to current PAPNM artist and student members working in two-dimensional mediums, excluding photography and digital media. Artists will be juried into the show based on a body of plein air work produced within the past two years. During the event (May 10-23, 2024), artists may paint anywhere in the state of New Mexico. One painting completed during the plein air event will be exhibited at Weems Gallery from each of the ninety artists juried into the event.

Eligibility Requirements: Current PAPNM membership with dues paid in full is required. PAPNM Signature and Master Signature Members are not eligible. All submitted work must be at least 80% completed en plein air within the past two years (painted between 2022 and February 2024). Artists must submit 4 images of original plein air works. All work must be original concept and painted solely by the entering artist. No work done under the guidance of an instructor is eligible. Signatures are not to be visible on images submitted for jury.

Fees and Dates: Application fee is $30. Accepted artists must pay an additional participation fee of $25 by April 15, 2024. Artist notification of jury selection will be sent by email on April 2. Completed work must be brought to Weems Gallery and Framing, 5935 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109-3885 by May 23-24 (10-3 pm) or shipped and received by May 25. The show opens June 1 and closes June 23, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on June 7 (5-7 pm). Unsold artwork pickup and return shipping occurs June 24 (10-3 pm).

Painting and Hanging Requirements: Maximum painting size is 20" x 24" including frame (maximum 16" x 20" with 2" frame). All work must be sturdily framed or gallery wrapped and ready to hang with D-rings and wire. Minimum price point is $350.00. Gallery will add 5% to asking price. Artists must provide process shots showing initial layout and painting 80% complete on location, along with a signed inventory sheet and artist biography. A high-resolution image (minimum 5" x 7" at 300dpi, ideal 1MB-3MB) must be submitted for promotion.
