2024 L'arte della Pesca...la Pesca nell'arte (Art of Fishing...Fishing in Art)

The 2024 "L'arte della Pesca – La Pesca nell'Arte" ("Art of Fishing – Fishing in Art") is a juried international art exhibition presented by the Italian Fly-Fishing School (SIM) and the Italian International Museum of Flyfishing "Stanislao Kuckiewicz." Artists are invited to submit 2D or 3D work in any style or genre with subject matter relating to fish, fishing, fly-fishing, fly-tying, or aquatic environments and landscapes. The exhibition is the 23rd edition of this established show.

Entry deadline is March 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $25.00. Artists may submit 1-4 images. The exhibition runs from June 22 to August 31, 2024, with the opening reception on June 22 at the International Fly-Fishing Museum in Castel di Sangro, Abruzzo, Italy, in conjunction with the SIM Fly Festival and World Fly Fishing Day. Jury results will be announced March 26, 2024. The deadline for artwork to be received or dropped off is June 7, 2024. Arrangements for local pickup of art should be made September 2-8, 2024.

Attendance is not required, but attending artists will be offered dining and lodging during the SIM Fly Festival (June 20-24). Artists who donate work to the museum's permanent collection will have lodging provided for an accompanying guest. Attending artists may sell additional artwork during the event without commission fees; 20% of sales of exhibition pieces will be retained for exhibition expenses. Artists are encouraged to demonstrate their techniques at the event. Awards include: First Prize—room and board for two at the 2025 SIM Fly Festival and winning image featured on wine bottle label; Second Prize—room and board for one and a framed salmon fly; Third Prize—room and board for one and a framed salmon fly. Evaluation criteria include quality of work, originality, adherence to theme and guidelines, and overall presentation. SIM provides shipping subsidies of €100 for EU artists and €200 for non-EU artists. All 2D work must be wired and ready for hanging; sawtooth or clip hangers are not allowed.
