2024 KIA High School Area Show

The 2024 KIA High School Area Show is open to students in grades 9-12 who reside in the Michigan counties of Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, or Van Buren. Each student artist may submit up to two unique original works in any medium. There is no participation fee. The entry deadline is Monday, February 12, 2024 by midnight ET. All entries must be submitted online. Accepted artists will be notified via email between February 27-28, 2024.

Accepted artworks must be hand delivered to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, located at 314 S. Park St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007, during March 20-24 (Monday-Thursday: 8 am - 6:30 pm, Friday-Saturday: 11 am - 5 pm, Sunday: 12 pm - 4 pm). Delivery at other times is available by appointment only. All 2-D work must be framed with sturdy wire for hanging, using Plexiglas rather than glass, and no snap frames are allowed. Limited frames are available for 2-D work matted to sizes 16" x 20", 20" x 24", 24" x 30", or 30" x 40". Congressional Art Competition works must be framed and not exceed 26" x 26" x 4" deep. 3-D work must be sturdy and able to be handled safely. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibition through Sunday, April 28, 2024. Works of art must not exceed 6 feet in any direction. All work is submitted at the owner's risk; the KIA is not responsible for insurance during transit or while artwork is on its premises.

Any artist whose work is accepted for exhibition is eligible for awards. Scholarship winners will be selected by representatives from each art school, and awards will be announced Friday, March 29, 2024 at 6 pm during the in-person award ceremony. Past scholarship and prize awards have been offered by KIA, Central Michigan University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Columbus College of Art and Design, Grand Valley State University, Indiana University South Bend, Kendall College of Art and Design, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Olivet College, University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Western Michigan University, and the 6th District Congressional Art Competition.
