About This Call
The Georgia Watercolor Society 45th Member Juried Exhibition is a competition for GWS members only, hosted by Festival Hall in Greensboro, Georgia. The entry fee is $35 for up to three images. The exhibition offers $3,000 in cash awards, with first prize of $1,000. The juror is Anne Hightower-Patterson.
All work must have been completed after July 2022 and be original from conception to completion. Allowed water media include watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera, water-soluble ink, and batik using watermedia. Collage is accepted only if all elements were made using water media and created by the artist. Preprinted or computer-generated images are not accepted. Work previously exhibited in any GWS show is not eligible. Submitted artwork may not be a copy, likeness, or direct derivative of another person's creative work or the artist's previously juried and/or published work. Work done in a workshop or under classroom supervision is not permitted.
Paintings must be framed in wood or metal in a single color (gold, silver, black, brown, white, or natural wood tones) with plain, unadorned frames not exceeding 3" in width. Plexiglass must be used instead of glass. Mats and liners must be untextured paper in white or variations of white with no accent colors. Maximum frame size may not exceed 36" in either direction. The image size displayed within the mat must be no smaller than 80 square inches with no side smaller than 8 inches. Shipped artwork must arrive at Festival Hall between September 3-5, 2024. In-person delivery is available September 7, 2024, 11 am to 2 pm. The exhibition opens September 14 and closes October 25. Selected artists will be notified by email on August 10, 2024. A 40% commission on all sales applies, with 30% going to Festival Hall and 10% to GWS.
