About This Call
The City of Lone Tree Arts Commission is seeking proposals from Colorado artists for an outdoor, temporary, three-dimensional art installation to be displayed for no less than 60 days at a pre-selected site near the Lone Tree Arts Center. Artwork should be suitable for outdoor public display, weather resistant, pedestrian safe, and appropriate for all ages. There should be an interactive component that engages and unites people across all ages, genders, and cultures through a shared experience. Daytime presence/activation is required; nighttime is encouraged. Artists are encouraged to stretch the boundaries of what art means by engaging multiple senses, utilizing kinetic motion, and using sustainable materials. The installation should be eye-catching and able to withstand rough engagement by children and weather conditions.
Eligibility is limited to professional Colorado artists who are at least 18 years of age or older. City of Lone Tree employees are ineligible. Submissions must include an artist resume with contact information and website, 6-10 high resolution images of previous work, a statement of interest explaining how your work meets the call guidelines, and 2 professional references.
The selection process occurs in two rounds. First, the Lone Tree Arts Commission reviews all submissions for creativity and quality, assessing how the piece will enliven the public area and draw people in. Selected finalists will be invited to pitch their concept design in person or virtually and will receive a $100 honorarium. Final proposals are scored based on technical feasibility, adherence to guidelines, and alignment with the City of Lone Tree's mission and goals. The awarded artist will be notified on May 9th, with installation scheduled for the week of August 19th. The project budget is $9,500, inclusive of design, materials, fabrication, installation, engineering, permitting fees, travel, insurance, and other project-related costs.
