About This Call
The City of Centennial is seeking local artists to provide public art for traffic box wraps as part of its annual community art initiative. Judges will rank all submitted applications, and the top three pieces will be selected as winning submissions. Each winning artist will receive a $1,000 commission, and their artwork will be replicated at four different locations throughout Centennial. The City reserves the right to select which art is best suited for each available location. Winning artists and artwork will be celebrated at Centennial Under the Stars on August 10, 2024 at Centennial Center Park.
Artwork must be 5-sided and address Centennial's vision statement: "The City of Centennial is a connected community, where neighborhoods matter, education is embraced, businesses are valued, and innovation absolute." References to local history and Centennial's unique neighborhoods are encouraged. Designs must be family-friendly, pleasing, and add beauty to the community. Designs cannot contain business promotions, advertisements, intellectual property breaches, brands, logos, trademarks, depictions of illegal activities, or colors/shapes that could be confused with traffic control devices. No physical objects may be attached to the traffic box. A 4" border at the bottom will include Centennial branding. Lighter colors are recommended to prevent overheating of electrical components.
Submit 3-6 images of your work. Upon selection, artwork will be converted to digital files in vector format (.AI, .EPS, .SVG), PDF, TIFF, or RAW. Non-vector artwork must meet minimum 150 dpi/ppi and minimum 2,000 pixels at the widest or tallest point. Traffic boxes vary in size (Small: 55" H x 44" W x 28" D; Large: 67" H x 49" W x 30" D), and selected artists will work with the Public Works Department to adjust images to fit the selected cabinets. The call is open to all local artists regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental ability. Youth, youth groups, and schools are highly encouraged to submit. City of Centennial staff, elected and appointed officials, and their immediate family are not eligible. Contact [email protected] for application or deadline questions, or call 303-325-8000 to speak with Public Works about Traffic Box Art.
