About This Call
The City of Mountain View's Visual Arts Committee invites professional artists and artist teams over the age of 18 residing in the 11 San Francisco Bay Area Counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma) to exhibit public art in the lobby of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (500 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA 94041) for the 2024 season. Rotating exhibits are approximately six to eight weeks in length and are viewed by thousands of people visiting downtown Mountain View and attending shows at the center.
Applications must be submitted online via CaFE at www.callforentry.org between Monday, November 6, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. (MST) and Friday, December 8, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. (MST). There is no charge to apply. Each application must include an artist resume, five to ten images of current work with annotated descriptions (title, date, dimensions, and media type), and all images must be of art suitable for the 2024 season.
Only framed artwork that is properly wired and ready for installation will be accepted. Artwork must be able to hang on the MVCPA's system. Maximum dimensions per piece: 60 inches wide (preferably less than 5 feet due to wall curvature), 84 inches high, and 6 inches deep. Typical weight per piece is up to 20 pounds, though the system can handle a few pieces up to 75 pounds per exhibition. Art is hung along curved walls from a picture rail mounted eight feet from the floor. Some artwork may also be displayed in the Mountain View City Hall Community Development Department Lobby (wall space: 8' wide by 5' high; alcove: 5' wide by 2' high). The Visual Arts Committee anticipates making artist selections by February 2024, with selected artists notified thereafter. The first 6-8 week exhibition slot begins in May 2024. For questions about using CaFE, contact WESTAF at 303-629-1166 or [email protected].
