About This Call
The City of Brighton Eye 4 Art Program invites artists to submit sculptures for the Sculpture-on-Loan Project. Five pieces will be selected for installation at Carmichael Park (650 E Southern Street, Brighton, Colorado) from May 1, 2020 through April 30, 2021.
Artists may submit up to eight separate sculptures. Each application represents one artwork with 1 to 5 images. Sculptures must be available for delivery and installation by May 1, 2020. The artist is responsible for transport, installation, and de-installation, and must provide all necessary tools and equipment. Sculptures will be installed outdoors and exposed to harsh sun, high winds, temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Work must be safe for public interaction, especially with children. Maximum weight: 1,000 pounds. Recommended minimum height: 4 feet. Sculptures will be viewed from all angles and must fit on 36-inch square pedestals (36 inches high, or 12 inches high upon request). Fragile, vulnerable, or inappropriate work will not be considered. Open theme.
Selected artists receive a $500 honorarium per sculpture. The Eye 4 Art Program retains a 20% commission on sculptures sold. A plaque listing the artist, materials, price, and contact information will be provided for each piece. One artist will be awarded a $1,000 "People's Choice" cash award voted by Brighton citizens. Although purchase is not guaranteed, the program is used as a resource for potential acquisitions to Brighton's permanent collection. Application deadline: January 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified by February 10, 2020.
