About This Call
This exhibition is open to Exhibiting Members only and is board juried. The board will select paintings from submitted works for exhibition. There is no limit to the number of pieces each Exhibiting Member may submit.
All work must be original to the artist and completed within the past three years. Work done in workshop or class settings with limited instructor supervision is acceptable, as are pieces that have received critiques resulting in artist-made improvements. However, work substantially created or changed by an instructor, group work, or non-original pieces will not be accepted. Entries submitted may not have been previously shown in an AWA exhibition.
Framing requirements include simple wood or metal frames (no unusually ornate or brightly colored frames). Gallery wrap canvases must have 1½" stretcher frames without exposed staples and be painted on all sides. Works displayed under glass require acid-free mats and backing boards in neutral colors only. All paintings must be wired and ready to hang with D-Rings or screw eyes and wire on two-dimensional work. Size limitations will be determined based on available exhibit space.
Submit high-quality JPEG images at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images must show only the artwork itself without visible matting, frames, or background. Images must be correctly oriented and represent the painting exactly. No painting substitutions are permitted once accepted.
Each artist is responsible for delivery and pickup of artwork on designated dates and times. All work is exhibited at the artist's own risk. If work is sold during the exhibition, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge receives 30% of the purchase price, with 70% accruing to the artist. Paintings may not be removed before the closing date.
For questions about the exhibition, contact Monica Wood or Claire Wilson. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be submitted by the deadline. Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline, and incomplete entries will be disqualified.
