2024-25 Dexter Art Gardens Temporary Sculpture Display

The Dexter Art Gardens is an annual outdoor artwork exhibition sponsored by the Dexter Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee and the City of Dexter. Five temporary outdoor artworks will be juried and placed on display with the City's permanent collection for one year, from June 2024 to May 2025. Selected pieces will be installed on concrete pads in highly trafficked locations in historic Dexter, Michigan.

Artwork must be three-dimensional and suitable in scale and materials for public outdoor display. Artwork must be able to endure rain, snow, and precipitation throughout the year. Artists may submit up to three original artworks, with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 images per submission. The call is open to all artists 18 years of age and older who are capable of installing the art on-site.

Each selected artist will receive a $900 stipend paid after successful installation. Additional benefits include exhibition at high visibility sites in Dexter, a plaque with the artist's name, artwork title, and price posted near the artwork, and a year-long promotional campaign. The City of Dexter will publish information about the artists and artworks on its website and Facebook page, and will distribute print and online brochures throughout the year. Brochures will be distributed during the annual Dexter Daze Festival and Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival in August 2024. Applications must be complete and may be submitted through CaFE, by hard copy to the City of Dexter at 3515 Broad Street, Dexter, MI 48130, or by email to [email protected] with "Dexter Art Gardens" in the subject line. Artist notification of selection will occur the week of April 8, 2024. Artwork installation is scheduled for June 1-15, 2024, with removal appointments available May 15-31, 2025.
