2024-2026 Sculpture Walk Peoria

Sculpture Walk Peoria is accepting submissions for an outdoor sculpture exhibition running 2024-2026. This biennial, juried exhibit offers local, regional, national, and international sculptors opportunities to showcase and sell their creations while enhancing Peoria's cultural environment. Sculptures will be placed in highly visible locations along Washington Street in close proximity to the Peoria Art Guild and the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Peoria is a city of 112,000 with a regional population of about 380,000, located 2.5 hours from Chicago, 2.5 hours from St. Louis, and 3 hours from Indianapolis.

All sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand outdoor weather and require no maintenance. Sculptures are owned by the artist and loaned to the exhibit from May 18, 2024 through March 2026. Selected artists receive a $4,500 honorarium ($2,000 following the May 18, 2024 opening, $2,000 in May 2025, and $500 at pickup). An additional $1,000 People's Choice Award is given to one artist in May 2025. Artists are responsible for delivering, installing, and removing their work, with complimentary boom truck and install volunteers provided on May 17, 2024 for installation and March 28, 2026 for de-installation. Selected artists receive free hotel accommodations for 2 nights during installation/opening weekend, complimentary meals, and a concierge to assist with logistics.

Submissions must include artist's resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (with up to three images each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words max). A $30 application fee applies. Sculptures are selected through a juried process with approximately 7 jurors (4 with art/art leadership background and 3 with business/community leadership background). Submissions are evaluated on artistic merit, creativity, public safety, appropriateness, and durability. Priority is given to newer sculptures. All sculptures must be for sale; the program receives a 25% commission on sales. Deadline for submissions is December 22, 2023. Selected finalists will be notified by January 15, 2024.
