About This Call
In its eighth year, the City of Westminster's Sculpture on Loan Program provides an opportunity for artists to display their work in the Vicky Bunsen Sculpture Garden Park and the City's newly developed downtown area. Up to fourteen sculptures will be selected for display during the 2024-2025 program period, which runs from late May/early June 2024 through late May/early June 2025. Selected artists will receive a $750 honorarium after acceptance and installation.
Sculptures must be garden size or larger with a minimum of 3 feet in one dimension, designed for long-term outdoor durability and ease of maintenance. Acceptable materials include metal, stone, or similarly durable materials; wood and powder coated surfaces will not be accepted. Sculptures taller than 11 feet require a certified engineer stamp of approval. Artwork must be able to be welded or bolted to a metal display base, bolted to a concrete pad, or bolted to a sidewalk. All artworks must be available for purchase, with the City collecting a 10% commission on sales. If selected artwork is removed, a sculpture of equal or greater value must be installed within 7 days.
Applications must be submitted online through CaFE (callforentry.org) with 2-6 images of a single piece, showing minimum front and back viewpoints. Required information includes artist details, artwork description (including dimensions, weight, and medium), current condition, value (maximum $75,000), appraisal certificate, proof of authenticity, inspiration description, and base/attachment method. There is no entry fee. The jury will review materials based on overall presentation, aesthetic quality, craftsmanship, appropriateness, maintenance requirements, and financial considerations, with additional community input.
