2023 Sculpture on the Move

The Creative Communities Alliance (CCA) is a coalition of municipal and nonprofit organizations dedicated to the development of community arts in the St. Louis and surrounding Missouri region extending to Kansas City to the west and Poplar Bluff to the south.

The 2023 Sculpture on the Move program will install approximately 20 sculptures for prominent display in outdoor, public areas across the region. Selected sculptures will be installed in spring 2023 for a period of two years, after which artists can resubmit their work for selection at another location within the regional display. Artists may submit multiple works and may have multiple works selected across participating communities. Each of the 20 municipalities/communities will select at least one sculpture from the pool of submissions. A representative from each community will work directly with the artist to finalize the contract, payment schedule, and delivery and installation dates.

Artwork submission deadline is January 31st, 2023. Artwork selection date is February 28th, 2023. Selected artists will be called between 10 am and 12 pm to confirm sculpture availability. Winning artists will be awarded $1,000 per year for two years for each sculpture selected, totaling $2,000 per sculpture. Entry fee is $10.00. Submissions should include 1-20 images. Each work must fit on a 4ft x 4ft concrete pad. All work must be ready for installation upon delivery, and the artist accepts responsibility for delivering and retrieving work on agreed-upon dates. Artists may sell the work during the project period, but it must remain on site for the duration of the exhibition. Open to all artists living in the United States. Work submitted must be original work created by the artist. Artists limited to certain regions in Missouri should note this on their application.
