About This Call
The Roswell Museum, in partnership with the Pecos Valley Potters Guild, invites artists, artisans, contemporary craftspeople and makers to apply to the third annual Roswell Museum Holiday Artisan Market. The Market is a juried art exhibition, sale, and fundraiser held at the Roswell Museum showcasing up to 50 artists, artisans and makers from around the region. The event runs November 10 through December 31 and includes a festive opening night reception. Sales will be split 70/30 between the artist and the Foundation in benefit of the Roswell Museum.
Selected artists will be requested to provide enough items to last for a majority of the sale, with some back stock as necessary. The total number of items will be decided in conversation with a committee member depending on the item type, sale price, size, artist inventory, ability to transport and storage capabilities. Examples include: 50-60 functional ceramic pieces, 35-40 jewelry items, 20 matted prints, 5-7 medium-sized paintings, or 5-7 accent tables. A variety of price points will be sought ranging from affordable gifts ($20 to $100) up through higher-end art/craft ($800 to approximately $2000). The Market will be arranged like an exhibition with multiple works by each participating artist on display in a gallery with a corresponding label about their background and work. A silent auction with items donated by participating artists and other contributions will be available for patrons to bid on in-person and online with proceeds to benefit the RMAC Foundation.
To apply, submit an application through the Art Café portal with a $35 application fee and images representing 3 items per category for which you wish to be considered. Include an overall image and an optional second image of a detail or alternative view for each item if needed. The maximum images and categories accepted under one application are 2 categories and 12 images (up to 2 views for 3 items per category). Categories include ceramics, glass, wood, jewelry, fiber, metal, painting, photography, work on paper (prints, drawings), and mixed media (two or more predominant media types). Items should all be original and handcrafted by the applicant; no reproductions are accepted. Exceptions will be made for limited-edition photographic prints, whether printed in a commercial darkroom or ink-jet printed. Artists, artisans, craftspeople and makers from New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Colorado are eligible to apply. Collaborative artists working in tandem on the same items are welcome to apply together under one application.
