About This Call
The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking six sculptures for the Old Town Keller West area, located on the west side of U.S. Highway 377 near the city's border with Fort Worth. Sculptures will be loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period and remain under the artist's ownership.
All sculptures must be family appropriate with no sexual, bloody, or violent content and pose no risk to public safety. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller. Pieces sold while on display may be removed, but the artist must replace the sold artwork with a different sculpture, with Board approval, within 60 days of removal. Artwork specifications include: base must fit on 5'x5' concrete pad, maximum height of 12', maximum weight of 2,500 pounds, and sculpture must be ready for installation no later than June 1, 2023.
A $1,500 honorarium shall be awarded for each piece for installation, exhibition, and removal over the two-year period. One-half of the stipend will be provided upon selection and the remainder upon successful installation. One Best in Show winner shall be awarded an additional $500. The City of Keller may provide assistance with installation and removal. Artists must reside in Texas and submit only fully completed sculptures. Submit up to three sculptures per application with a maximum of two applications per artist. Required materials include résumé, artist statement (1000-word maximum), and sculpture description (1000-word maximum) including title, media/materials, size, year completed, purchase price, installation information, and location details.
