About This Call
Skagit Artists, a 501(c)(3) organization, invites artists from Skagit, Island, San Juan, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties to participate in the 19th annual NW Art Beat Open Studios Tour. This is a free, self-guided tour of Skagit County art studios featuring juried artists from these five counties, showcasing local talent and providing the public with an insider view of working artists.
Art must be shown in a working studio or business located in Skagit County. The studio or location must be appropriate for public visitation. Active, working studios that share space with a gallery may be included if work is presented in the studio space itself. Artists without a studio in Skagit County or with studios unsuitable for public traffic may request to be hosted by another artist; Skagit Artists will assist in finding suitable space. If accepted but no suitable studio becomes available, all fees will be refunded. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work and space.
The tour takes place July 15-16, 2023, from 10am to 6pm. Application deadline is March 3, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Applicants must submit 4 JPEG images representing actual work to be offered for sale. The non-refundable application fee is $35. If invited to participate, the participation fee is $175 for Skagit Artists members and $250 for non-members, due by April 1, 2023. A refundable sign fee of $75 (in the form of a check) is collected when signs are distributed. Notifications of accepted artists will be sent on or before March 17, 2023. All participants are expected to collect and submit studio visitor information, distribute tour guides and posters, promote the event through their networks and social media, and commit to a task supporting the event (typically requiring 10 hours or less). Studio visitor information must be submitted by July 24, 2023.
