2023 National Drawing Competition

Ellington-White Contemporary Gallery (EWCG) and Rosenthal Gallery invite artists to enter the 2023 National Drawing Competition celebrating contemporary drawing as an art form. The exhibition welcomes traditional and innovative approaches to drawing, encouraging artists who incorporate new ideas, techniques, and perspectives. Each artist may submit up to 3 original works in any drawing medium and style.

Awards include 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $400, and 3rd Place $300, with additional awards to be announced. All accepted work will be available for purchase with a 30% commission to the gallery. The competition is juried by Dwight Smith, award-winning artist and professor of Visual Art at Fayetteville State University, with Soni Martin, M.F.A., serving as curator.

Eligibility is open to professional artists 18 years and older in the United States and Canada. Entry fee is $30 for up to 3 images submitted online via CaFE by September 27, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted works must arrive ready to install by October 17, 2023. Work specifications: minimum 8" x 10", maximum 48" x 72" including frame, wired and ready to hang with no sawtooth hangers. The exhibition runs October 24 – November 17, 2023 at Fayetteville State University Rosenthal Gallery, with an artists reception on Tuesday, October 24 from 6–8 p.m. Work pick-up is November 18–19 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. or by appointment.
