2023 Mountain View Center for Performing Arts Call for Artists

The City of Mountain View's Visual Arts Committee invites artists and artist teams working in a variety of media to exhibit public art in the lobby of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (500 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA 94041) for the 2023 season. The rotating exhibits are approximately six to eight weeks in length and are viewed by thousands of people visiting downtown Mountain View and attending shows at the venue.

The call is open to all professional artists/artist teams over the age of 18 residing in the 11 San Francisco Bay Area Counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano and Sonoma). Applications will be accepted from October 23, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. (MST) to November 12, 2022 by 11:59 p.m. (MST). Only the first 120 applications will be accepted. Applications must be submitted online via CaFE at www.callforentry.org. There is no charge to apply.

Applications must include: artist resume, five to ten images of current work, and annotated image descriptions with title, date, dimensions, and media type. Only artwork that is framed, properly wired and ready for installation will be accepted. Maximum dimensions per piece: 60 inches wide, 84 inches high, 6 inches deep. Typical weight per artwork: up to 20 pounds. Art is hung on curved walls from a picture rail mounted eight feet from the floor. Art may also be displayed in the Mountain View City Hall Community Development Department Lobby (wall: 8' wide by 5' high; alcove: 5' wide by 2' high). The Visual Arts Committee anticipates making artist selections by December 2022. Selected artists will work with the City on contract and insurance requirements. The artist chosen for the first 6-8 week slot will exhibit in March 2023.
