About This Call
The City of Eugene Cultural Services invites artists who live, work, or have a connection to Eugene to submit work for the juried Mayor's Art Show. The exhibition will be on display at the Downtown Library from October 6-29, 2023. The Mayor's Art Show is a long-standing annual exhibition that showcases local artists in Eugene's public spaces as part of Visual Arts Week. Established, emerging, and student artists are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility and Requirements: There are no entry fees. Artists must be at least 18 years old at the time of submission. Artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2022. Submissions may include 2D, 3D, or digital artworks. 2D artwork must be able to hang on gallery wire hooks with a maximum height of 60 inches including framing. 3D artworks must include weight information in the application. Digital works must be self-contained and managed by the artist. Artwork must be display-ready and available to photograph for the online exhibition in August. Artists may submit one artwork with 1-5 images for 2D work, 2-5 images for 3D work (including at least one detail image), one video file, or one audio file.
Submissions are open May 31-July 12, 2023 through the CaFÉ application system. A panel of local artists and art professionals will review all applications, with notifications by late July. Awards will be given in the following categories: Mayor's Choice, Juror's Choice, People's Choice, and Curator's Choice. Artists not selected for the main exhibition may apply for entry in the Salon des Refusés exhibition with New Zone Gallery. All sales incur a 25% commission, and artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
