About This Call

This juried photography competition is open to all photographers 18 years and older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. The competition seeks extraordinary photographs made with lousy lenses, such as Holga, Diana, Ansco, and pinhole cameras. You can also create your own Krappy Kamera by using a non-Krappy camera and exchanging the lens with a Krappy lens (e.g., pinhole body cap or Holga-type lens). Cell phones, disposables, and point-and-shoot cameras are ineligible. The lens is the determining factor. There is no limitation as to subject matter.

Submit 5 to 15 images. Entry fee is $45.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. The 2023 juror is Jean 'Gino' Miele, a Santa Fe-based photographer whose work explores the borderlands between fiction and reality, and reflects a lifelong interest in perception, spirituality, and mysticism.

Awards include First Place $300, Second Place $200, Third Place $100, three Honorable Mentions, and a People's Choice award. Winning photographs must be framed and wired for hanging. Maximum height or width (including frame) for exhibited work cannot exceed 48 inches. Photographs not suitably prepared will be excluded. The exhibition runs from November 30, 2022 to January 9, 2023.
