About This Call
The Decatur Arts Alliance invites artists working in 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional media to participate in the 34th Annual Decatur Fine Arts Exhibition, a juried multimedia presentation held in conjunction with the Decatur Arts Festival. For this year's exhibition, the theme is "Small Changes," and entries must be no larger than 24 inches in any direction, including framing.
The exhibition will be installed in the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library, part of the DeKalb County Public Library. The Decatur Arts Festival draws approximately 60,000 people to downtown Decatur for a celebration of the arts that includes a juried Artists Market, Children's Festival, New Dance, Literary Arts, Performing Arts Stage, and a Concert on the Square. The Fine Arts Exhibition addresses a broad spectrum of knowledge and appreciation of the arts with a diversity of styles and media. A closing reception is planned for Friday, June 16, 2023.
Entry fee is $30 for up to three entries. Work samples must include 1-3 images and 0-2 videos (minimum 1 total sample). Submissions must include contact information, title, year completed, brief artist statement, up to three images per work, image list with photography credits and dimensions, and presentation/installation requirements. Entries are submitted digitally through www.callforentry.org and must be completed by 11:59 PM MST on March 24, 2023. Jury decisions will be posted no later than April 16, 2023.
Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Gold Award ($700), and Silver Award ($500). Purchase awards totaling $2,500 are selected by the City of Decatur for inclusion in its public art collection. Sales are encouraged, with the Decatur Arts Alliance collecting a 25% commission on all artwork sold. The 8% Georgia sales tax will be added at the point of sale. Jurors are Susan Bridges (founder of Whitespace Gallery), Stephanie Smith (Atlanta-based artist and educator), and Colleen Lawrence Ferketish (book artist and librarian).
