About This Call
The City of Lone Tree Arts Commission is seeking proposals from Colorado artists for an outdoor, temporary, three-dimensional art installation to be displayed for no more than 45 days at a pre-selected site near the Lone Tree Arts Center between August-September 2023. Artwork should be suitable for outdoor public display, weather resistant, pedestrian safe, and appropriate for all ages. There must be an interactive component that engages and unites people across all ages, genders, and cultures through a shared experience. Daytime presence/activation is required; nighttime activation is encouraged.
Each artist or team may submit up to three separate proposals. Submissions will be reviewed by the Lone Tree Arts Commission for compliance with requirements, technical feasibility, creativity, and overall quality. The Commission will assess each submission's ability to enliven the public area surrounding the Lone Tree Arts Center and draw people in with a welcoming presence. Finalists will be invited to pitch their proposals on Wednesday, June 14th between 6pm-7pm, with Q&A with the Commissioners. Each finalist will receive a $100 honorarium. The selected artist or team will be notified on Thursday, June 15th, 2023.
Eligibility is limited to professional Colorado artists who are at least 18 years of age or older. City of Lone Tree employees are ineligible. The project budget is $9,500, inclusive of design, materials, fabrication, installation, engineering, permitting fees, travel, insurance, and other project-related costs. Submissions must include an artist statement, contact information, website and social media handles, artwork title, detailed physical and conceptual description with explanation of interactive components and durability considerations, estimated installation timeline, and up to 6 high-resolution images of past completed artworks.
