2023 Artworks Northwest Biennial

Umpqua Valley Arts Association (UVA) invites artists residing in the Pacific Northwest to submit work to the 2023 Artworks Northwest Biennial, a curated exhibition showcasing contemporary art practices in the region. The exhibition is open to all media except video. Artworks are selected by a curator who resides and works in the Pacific Northwest. For 2023, Portland-based painter Arvie Smith serves as guest curator.

Eligibility: Artists must reside in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, British Columbia, Western Montana, or Western Wyoming. Artwork must have been completed within the last three years and not previously exhibited at UVA. Artists may submit up to 5 entries. All work must be original, display-ready upon arrival, and not exceed 60" on its longest side, fit through a standard 3-foot wide door, and weigh less than 50 lbs. Fine art prints are eligible if signed, numbered, and in a limited edition of 125 or less. Entry fee is $35. Submissions are digital only via CaFE (JPEG files, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi, up to 5 MB). Submission deadline: April 14, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified May 5th. Exhibition runs June 9 - August 18, 2023. Opening reception: Friday, June 9th, 4pm-7pm.

Cash awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $250, 3rd Place $150, J. Lynn Peterson Award $100. UVA commission rates are 30% for members and 40% for non-members.
